We hope you have enjoyed an extra day or two with your children. Our team spent a very productive day at school on Tuesday focusing on the teaching of maths and some changes in the NZ Curriculum. It was wonderful to have Kylie O'Keefe from the Ministry leading some great learning in the afternoon.

Thank you to the Spite whānau for their donation of a piano which we have positioned outside the hall. I have been listening to a range of visitors twinkling the ivories all afternoon.
|
Along with the rest of the country, we have experienced a surge of COVID cases over the past week. We ask that as a school you observe the recommendation of staying home for five days or until you are symptom free. It is worth reminding your children of the need to wash hands and 'sneeze etiquette'.

Congratulations to the 48 runners who head to the zones on Thursday at Nga Puna Wai. It is always a big step up from the school to the wider competition but still an exciting opportunity for them all. Go well and do your best, we can't wait to hear all about it. It was fabulous to have our school event utilising our beautiful surrounds - thanks Meeghan for organising such a fabulous event!

Finally, a reminder to book your learning conversations with your child's ako teacher. This is to be completed through Hero - school bookings. This is a time to hear about your child's learning and participate in setting goals for them for the remainder of the year. Please also take a moment to complete this form indicating the plans for your child on Thursday 13th June when we finish slightly early. Currently we have information for 25% of our learners.

Kaiako | teachers are currently completing learning comments for your children. By the end of the term you will have comments for caring, curious, capable, reading, writing, maths, protraits and their mihi. Progress charts will be turned back on in the last week as this allows us time to moderate our levels and consult others in the team. Like physical growth, academic progress looks different for all our learners as there are so many variables. Please take a read of this earlier parent update that talks about progress and reporting. We are still waiting on information from the Ministry as to how the curriculum levels will be replaced with phases of learning. This will have an implication on how historical progress will be curated.

Argyle Uniform Price Increase - We have received advice from Argyle that there will be a price increase effective 1st July.
|
|
|
|
The new prices will take effect on the 1st of July 2024 and will apply to all new orders placed after, or for delivery after, the 1st of July 2024.
|
|
Argyle hasn't revised their delivery charge for more than 11 years. Effective 1 July 2024, the new delivery charge on ArgyleOnLine orders will be $9.00 including GST. Back orders will continue to be delivered free of charge.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Coffee with Claire will generally be held on the first Tuesday of the month, but please check the school community calendar for exact dates as this may be subject to change.
|
|
|
|
|
New Enrolments - If you know of families moving into the area or with preschoolers, please encourage them to fill out our online enrolment form soon as possible. This allows us to plan ahead and recruit the teachers we might need!

We have very recently received notification that two classrooms will be moved onsite this week. We mentioned this at the end of last year but it has been a very long time in the pipeline with moving timeframes.
|
|
As mentioned in a separate email, the classrooms will be moved into the carpark overnight. This means that the carpark will be closed tomorrow until the buildings are moved onto the school grounds.
|
|
|
The buildings will then be upgraded and need consent before they can be used by the school. Handover won't be until early in Term 3. While we have a live building site we will close the gate at the end of the carpark to whānau as this will be for contractors use. We are still to determine which classes will move into these buildings but it is likely they will be used by the Hikuwai teams.
|
The Ministry and Board are continuing to push ahead with the plans for our Stage 2 block. We want to be shovel ready when funding is allocated. Most building projects have been paused by the current government.
|
Growth has slowed of late as sub divisions in the area have had delays with the release of sections. We currently have 455 children and the two additional spaces will take our capacity to 450.
|
Members of the Board and Sara Kross recently met with Mayor Sam Broughton to discuss the issues raised in the correspondence sent earlier in the year. Sam is keen to write to central government as the concerns we have could impact our learners for all of their school in the Lincoln area.
|
|

Matariki Celebration - Te Hapori Tautoko is excited to bring you a Matariki Celebration on Friday 5 July 2024. This whānau information booklet provides you with all of the information you need to know and ways you can support! It is set to be a wonderful evening and a highlight in the calendar for many.

Hot Dog Day - Te Hapori Tautoko is providing a Hot Dog Day on Friday 14 June. Orders can be made via KINDO and close on Tuesday 11 June. At $3 each, these will make a yummy hot lunch!

And finally! We managed to get everyone to have a go at our new cross country route! Thank you so much to all the parent volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly. Thank you also to our Year 7/8 tamariki who helped out on the respective days. You are all stars!

Zones Hockey and Football Tournament
|
|
The Lincoln Zones Hockey and Football tournament will be taking place on the 18th of June at Foster Park. Unfortunately we do not have enough Year 5/6 Hockey players to enter a Year 5/6 team this year but we have entered one Year 7/8 team. We have also entered two football teams for years 5/6 and 7/8. Each of these teams will need a manager for the day. If you are able to assist please contact me and let me know as soon as possible. You will not need to referee any games as refs are supplied by the organisers. Parents of children who have volunteered to participate have been notified via email. Activation Spectacular (AKA Winter Sports) for Years 5-8
|
Just a reminder that our Year 5-8 tamariki will be taking part in this wonderful 4 week sport rotation. Both Year 5/6 and Year 7/8 will begin their rotations at the Selwyn Aquatic Club. The bus will leave school on Wednesday at 8:45 am. Please ensure your child is at school at 8:30 am so their teachers can do the roll before getting on the bus.

Please ensure that your child is dressed in their togs wearing their school uniform over their togs. They must be ready to swim as soon as they arrive as the schedule is very tight. They will need goggles and a towel. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s ako teacher.

All orders will be delivered to school in batches and distributed to the classrooms as they arrive. Any orders marked as gifts, we will put to one side and contact you when they are ready to be collected.
