Kia ora e te whānau,

Lovely to see the sun shining and feel the warm air this week. Spring is on the way and I am looking forward to the daffodils and sunshine. I am hoping the warmer weather brings an end to winter illness. We don't currently have any students with COVID but still have many with colds and coughs. Thanks for helping us keep these bugs at bay by keeping your children home when they are not well.
Last Friday we held our annual quiz night. This was such a fun event and lovely for the community to come together for fun and laughter. All funds raised will go to additional playground spaces as our roll grows. A special thank you to Fran, Sarah, Sharyn and their team of organisers. It was a hugely successful event and that is a result of many hours by a team of volunteers behind the scenes. Another special thank you to Chris and Aleisha Seller. This gorgeous couple give their time to our schools for both this event and our discos. Their children actually go to Springston School but they have a huge heart for the Selwyn Community, thank you.

Another thank you to our beautiful tamariki who got into the spirit of Daffodil Day last week. Children dressed in green and gold and brought donations raising nearly $500 for the Cancer Society. Ngā mihi ki a koutou - thanks to you all.

Heads Up for Kids

Heads Up for Kids is an organisation supported by the Lions Club. I found out about this organisation from my Nana Ann. She is the coordinator for the Rangiora Lions, who is helping to get Te Puna o Ararira started on this awesome initiative. I am really grateful that my Nana got me interested in this project.

All we need to start is a Heads Up for Kids tin which is provided by the Lions Club with the help of my Nana. We also need students to participate by bringing in old foreign coins, overseas coins or even just the coins we use here in New Zealand.
192AAE40-BE26-4122-AB50-F67A9B40A684
Once these coins are collected they are sent to Wellington to be sorted. The money goes towards helping other schools, and most importantly children's charity.
