Teachers are busy writing summative comments about your children's ability as capable readers, writers and mathematicians. When all assessments are complete we will turn the graphs back on so you can see children's progress through the curriculum levels. Just a reminder that each level of the curriculum takes roughly two years to work through. We are looking for an upward journey on the graphs that will have a few flats and bumps due to the nature of learning.

Our kapa haka group are busy preparing for a wee performance at Picnic in the Park next week. This is a kāhui ako event held at Lincoln Primary. There are lots of events scheduled so please keep an eye on our calendar which we will endeavour to keep up to date!

Wellbeing week (Week 7, week beginning: 23rd November) Next week our tamariki and school community will be focusing on Wellbeing. Our school's model for wellbeing is Te Whare Tapa Wha. Our tamariki will be looking at each dimension of the whare, completing activities and discussing how they can enhance their wellbeing. As a Kahui Ako challenge, we invite our school community to take photographs of your whanau demonstrating ways of wellbeing. A small family prize is up for grabs! These can be emailed to: russ.ast@lincolnprimary.ac.nz. It would be great if you also shared your photos with your child's ako teacher on their "Learning from home" page on Hero.

On a cold Friday 6th November morning 25 Ararira Students headed to Nga Puna Wai to compete in the Lincoln Zone Athletics Competition. Luckily for all involved, the rain didn’t appear and all events went ahead as scheduled. All the students showed resilience and competitiveness in their events. They came up against some strong competition. To be invited to the Canterbury Athletics event students had to come either first or second in the event. Congratulations to the students below who made it:
Antonia Stark-Merfield - Year 5 Girls High Jump
Emma Southen - Year 6 Girls 1000m
Teoni Jacques - Year 7 Girls 60m
The students will be competing at Nga Puna Wai on Wednesday 2nd December and we wish them all the best.

Active Leaders Fun Run
Active leaders have been preparing for this event for a long time. They have tried to hold this event three times and because of COVID had to postpone it each time. On Wednesday 11th November it finally went ahead, the active leaders set out a wonderful course for all students to enjoy. It was all about being active and not being competitive. When the students were either waiting or finished they could still enjoy being active by dancing with the music or enjoying the various sports equipment put out by the active leaders. A big thank you to Jono who helped the active leaders in the run-up to the event and the wonderful active leaders themselves. Ka Pai.

KIDS CHALLENGE - KAUNUKU 1
On Saturday Sophia, Maya, Joel and Dan competed in the Kids’ Challenge at Lake Roto Kohatu Reserve. The event organisers promise that the “race emphasises teamwork, problem solving, sportsmanship, environmental awareness and fun”. They rogained, kayaked, and biked for an hour in teams of two. Sophia and Maya came second and won a spot prize.
“I was exhausted but it was fun,” says Maya.
“I enjoyed the sausage sizzle we had afterwards too,” says Sophia.
“It was like a triathlon,” says Dan, “the best part was having McDonald’s on the way home.”
“The biking was the best,” said Joel, “because my dad has just oiled my chains and it was a really smooth ride.”
Thanks Eva for sending in these photos - we are really proud of our Ararira kids getting out there and trying new adventures!
